They don't scare me, but they do serve as a reminder of a very dark time in my life, when I woke up to find a few of them running over my hand, and my first reaction wasn't revulsion or horror, or even sorrow at how far I'd fallen, economically speaking, but JOY- because here, if I could trap them, was a source not only of free calories, but free protein!

Incidentally, cockroaches taste even worse than you'd expect them to. Poverty sucks.

They ugly and creepy and they move so fast and they can swarm too 🤢 Plus if you squish them they stink. They are the living turds of the insect world.

it's a mixture of exhaustion and anxiety for me. I'd rather not deal with them ever again.

I'm not sure they're any dirtier than other bugs, but I think we've been raised to think of them as an indicator of a dirty, disease-ridden environment.
