My major setback was pretty much my childhood. My father was a narcissistic alcoholic. My mother did her best most of the time but just wasn’t equipped for being a parent. My dad bugged out when I was 9, and my mom had no discipline when it came to finances. Money just wouldn’t last - partly because there wasn’t much to begin with and partly because she’d buy stupid things when she had any. By the time I was 16, I was working full time while still in high school, because I was feeding myself and my sister and buying our clothes and school supplies. When I was 18, I moved out flat broke and busted my arse to get through school and make something of myself.

It took me a few years till I finally decided I was gonna cover the issues in prayer and claw back my dreams.

About a year ago, almost to the date, I lost somewhere in the neighborhood of $100K on a single investment. Since then, I have just about fully recouped that investment.
