@BohoBabe I don't know about data, it's really just my own personal feelings, beyond the obvious 'plumbing', women having breasts to feed babies so logically it's more practical, I feel that most humans are more comfortable accepting care and nurture from a female, probably a survival thing, we would be wired to seek the mother figure because they are the ones with the food source. There's also some social science theories supporting. John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworths theory of attachment and maternal deprivation.

Men on the other hand appear to be wired to provide. They are competitive and goal oriented. Many men suffer from a decline in mental health when they are unable to work.

I know that you won't agree with this and that's ok, we can have different beliefs. I just believe than in general, traditional roles work best in raising children. There will always be the exception to the rule of course and lots of men do make awesome single dads too. ☺

@PatientlyWaiting25 For babies, sure, but we're talking about staying home indefinitely. Like a woman could go on maternity leave, or even not work until she's had three kids and doesn't want anymore, then get a career while her husband is a stay-at-home dad. Plus a lot of women use the pump to store beast milk for their babies, so they can feed them anytime they need it.

As for everything else, the idea that men are more competitive and goal-oriented than women, that's probably because of social conditioning. Women in western countries tend to be much more driven than women outside the West. Which makes sense, the more feminist a culture is, the more comfortable women will feel being competitive and goal-oriented.

I understand the power of feelings, but keep in mind, the patriarchy and the urge to put feeling over fact are two of the big reasons America is in its current predicament. People can have super trad marriages if they want, but I do worry about the idea that it's objectively better to have a trad marriage.

@BohoBabe We need to agree to differ. I feel that instinctively, we usually preferentially seek care and nurture from women, my belief is that this is because of design. It's God's plan. I don't for one second believe that men cannot be nurturing, or that women should be prevented from working it's just that generally, nature says women fit best in the nurturing role.

@HenrySpanx Yeah, and I wasn't talking about the 90s either, but even 70s and80s tootobe honest, I was only talking about today as being very terrible to be honest.... We've regressed downhill hard to be honest and I don't think I want traditional human connections with anyone today....
