Unpopular opinion:

State and local police should be completely dissolved. Federal agents should be the ONLY ones who get involved in stopping crime. They are more intelligent, receive way better training for longer, and are far more neutral when it comes to solving problems between citizens.

How much experience do you have with the law enforcement "system?" You are entitled to your opinion, but don't you realize that law enforcement has to start locally with community interaction. Then as the radius expands different secondary sources of enforcement is needed. Federal enforcement crossing state lines would totally ignore the local nature of most crime.

@DearAmbellina2113 only local police can become part of a local community, their visibility and local knowledge is what really is important locally. Yes, there may be ways to streamline the system, but no one has come up with an approach that works any better.

@samueltyler2 Maybe the lack of the local knowledge won't be a bad thing in many cases. We need less biased, and more professional police force.

@DearAmbellina2113 that isn't the case. But such trials, at least the one I know about in my state, ended up poorly. The local population resented the state police patrolling in their area. The patrols were less often and not involved with the schools, businesses etc. The state police were not happy with their role. The costs were actually greater to the community. In short, the attempt failed.
