I got in touch with an old coworker at the grill today..Turns out FIVE OTHER people left right after I did, and the owner has NOT rehired.
That means that only TWO (undocumented) people are running the front AND back, and the one I have spoken to wants to leave in a month.
He only works weekends, and they didn't pay him for 2 months, citing financial difficulties. When they DID pay him, 2 months late, they told him not to CASH THE CHECK YET.
They pay one of the men 10/hr, the hardest working one. The other, they pay 11/hr. Food wait times are 30+ minutes, and the owner has his wife and son giving the place 5 star reviews, out of desperation, to which he replies glowingly..as if they are not his own family.
He said that they used to get an average of 90 orders a day..and now it is around 50. I wanted so badly to leave a horrible review when I got fired over that bs, but I decided vengeance was God's..and if I messed around with it, he would receive less karma....
I did what was fair and legal by calling him in to the Dept of Labor. I didn't know it was this bad for him..and about to get a lot worse.
