The approach of fighting guns with more guns is FAILING!!!

Australia had a VERY effective gun buyback plus strict controls after a mass shooting, and gun deaths went down dramatically. Australia is a lesson gun nuts desperately want to ignore.

@ElwoodBlues they'll just come up with excuses and ignore the data. Even worse when some politicians try to campaign for even less control and no background checks

@ElwoodBlues I think New Zealand has similar after an atrocity there a couple of years ago.

The British Police work on county-force bases, although are cohesive nationally, and from time to time one of another county force will have a weapons amnesty.

These yield all sorts of things including knives, swords and guns, and occasional so-called "martial arts" items, knuckle-dusters and the like. Many of the guns were "war souvenirs" or had been legally held and used but by someone now deceased, and being disposed of by the family.

The weapons are not bought, and are really of little legal monetary value anyway, so the actions are by conscience not for gain; but they do collect a lot of nasty things that should not be about.

Since it's no questions asked, I daresay some weapons are from people who had them for all the wrong reasons but now wanting to live a decent life.
