One man in USA kills 18 and injures many today! No one needs an assault weapon ever, So sad that the USA hasn't outlawed assault weapons!

@ElwoodBlues Aside from the party-politics although the reflect it (not vice-versa), do these wide murder-rate differences reflect wide differences in social and economic factors between State?

That would seem the obvious, [i]but[/i] is there something else going on, perhaps very deeply-rooted, beyond these?

After all, many other nominally wealthy, developed countries have similar differences and divisions of their own, but generally lower murder rates, and (excepting terrorist attacks) random "mass" murders are really very rare in them.

@ArishMell I wish I knew why there is such a disparity in gun deaths between US states, and between 'red' and 'blue' states. Laws, culture, poverty, I suppose they all play a part. What's clear is that fighting gun deaths with more guns is NOT working.
