Called in sick to work today (CW: menstrual issues)

Not happy about it. I like my job and I respect my manager and I don't want to let her down. But my periods are getting worse as I age, and today it is just too heavy and painful to even think about going to work.

I wish people really understood how much 'invisible' illnesses affect the lives of those who are afflicted. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis, and combined, they make my life miserable. I have extremely heavy periods with cramps that make me lose my breath and nearly pass out. I can't sneeze, cough, laugh, or lift anything without an intense pressure in my uterus followed by a waterfall of bleeding which causes me to have to immediately find the nearest restroom and do a 5-7 minute cleanup job.

It is absolutely debilitating. I just pray I don't eventually lose my job over this.

@JimboSaturn funny but until you have experienced this kind of pain in YOUR uterus...stfu.

my ex used to get horrible pms but she got on birth control pills and it helped regulate her cycle and she didn't suffer anymore
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@monellla731 birth control regulated my periods but didn't stop the horrific cramps and heavy bleeding. It also raised my blood pressure so my doctor stopped giving them to me.

@DearAmbellina2113 oh i am sorry to hear that I wish I knew more about the subject bit i don't I hope you can see a doctor who can help

You should file a disability claim and make your condition known privately but officially so you cannot be fired. Is there no treatment for your condition?
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
@Muthafukajones the only treatment for endometriosis is surgery and there is a high recurrence rate so there's no point.
I feel the same too. The more I get older, it gets more painful.
I have to take some pain meds for it.

Do you get sick days? Or do you need a doctor's note?
