[Personal] Do you ever miss a place where you have lived for a long time? 😞

I lived in this solitary place for nearly twelve years. I say solitary because while the place was huge and on twenty acres. It was also extremely remote. Plenty of area for quiet contemplation without interruption.

Where I live now it's oh so busy and noisy. 🙀

And I am not referring to all the kids!

As a side note to those interested in cooking. My recipe for vegetarian approved beef liver is posted in my personal food photoboard:

Very few like liver so this is not a general post.
stopped by the place where I grew up and asked if I could see my old room. they slammed the door in my face. thought that was pretty rude of my parents

@saragoodtimes Now that could be very hard to deal with.

Yet I understand as well. My family has blacklisted me as well.

I miss the farm where I was born and lived the early years of my life. The house and barn were razed so they don’t exist. But the pastures, farm pond, fields and creek and other places remain. I have looked for images on Google Earth.

@cherokeepatti this is what it was like where I lived and grew up. Notice the fields and groves that are no longer there. In fact no groves of any kind in all of Orange county. 😞

Nothing there now is the same. Not even the darn freeway. Even the freeway itself has changed. :(

@DeWayfarer yeah I visited Orange County last year, I saw no orange groves there. Sad isn’t it?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@cherokeepatti More than sad. A couple of months ago I heard that the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove was bought by the Catholic Church.

Where that Cathedral stands was once a walnut grove. My father and I picked walnuts from that grove every year and we made brownies with them.

So many memories. So many. 😕

Unlike you, I never fell in love with most places I lived. I only feel nostalgia for my grandfather's farm, but I heard that the new owner has basically destroyed it, cut down all the trees, pulled down the barn...all the places where I had wonderful memories...gone.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou I know precisely how you feel. The new owners bulldozed all twenty acres and made a pot farm out of the whole thing. 😡

Posted some more photos under Peaches reply on how it was.

@DeWayfarer My grandfather's farm was so special to me when I was a child...it is built into all my memories...good and bad...and so I know how angry it makes you feel when someone goes in and rips it all to pieces. I am sorry for your loss.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou Thank you. I understand your loss as well.

I live in my childhood home. But I miss how it used to be. It's one big mess right now and I'm fighting a losing battle between families
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SW-User Hope you can save it. My childhood home has had three story apartments on it for the last 45 years. 😞

YES! 🎑💙I miss the little house I grew up in among the scented pines in NC. I would walk down the old dirt road every summer and go swimming in the Atlantic ocean.🌊😌
Peaches · F
@cherokeepatti It WAS! 😍

@DeWayfarer Yes, I miss the tranquility and freedom too. 🌟This is a nice place!🐥

@Peaches Just created the new photoboard and put a whole bunch of images in it. More are still coming. Just got access to my Google drive.

I miss where I used to live. Sure, the apartment was horrible and I have a lot of bad memories, but the people and location was just so nice and laid back.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@raysam363 I can understand that!

The liver dish looks delicious. I love liver, all kinds. Sorry you miss your old place.🎃
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@Oster1 Thank you. Somehow I missed your reply. 🤔
I lived on the top floor of a Victorian house in North Oakland over near Piedmont. It had survived the 1906 earthquake. If I could have, I would’ve bought that house and lived there forever.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard I wish I could have bought that 20 acres. I just didn't have it. 🤷🏻‍♂️😞
