Hi,

I created this group to serve as a springboard to explore what similar worlds we older people and those we love and/or care about may share.

How old does one have to be to be interested and join doesn't really matter. An 18 year old looking forward to his/her old age is welcome, as is a 80 year old who wants to pretend he or she is still only 18.

There are unlimited areas of interest that relate to being and/or getting older: lifestyle issues, diseases that seem to target older people, retirement, hobbies, finances, living conditions, confinements, romance, sex, etc., etc., etc. Stuff that for people who are older may be a little more complicated than for people who are younger. Or maybe easier to handle with the benefit of life experiences. Since this is Similar Worlds, my hope is that we can find others with similar interests, concerns, and/or feelings, and maybe expand group and or chat areas to focus on topics that may have an age component.

I added poll to generate a bit of awareness of how many older people are even here and stay long enough to find this group.

Nice idea. Maybe a poll to see who has arthritis LOL. Who still gets morning wood. Or what parts have you had surgically replaced!

I’m in

@carpediem Absolutely. That's the intent. These type groups have great participation on FaceBook, but many or most are moderated and restrictive.

@carpediem I recall seeing the results of a survey of locals who participated in the various area agency senior programs; i.e. meal sites, home delivered meals, neighborhood senior centers, transportation assistance, etc.; and the number one issue that respondents identified as limiting their joys of life was arthritis. Interesting but I don't recall anyone referencing ED or other intimacy related issues. Dementia would likely have been high on that list, but dementia related conditions would likely also be a good reason why someone wouldn't participate in a survey.

Nice idea. Does the group really exist and how could I join, or see its content?
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@ffony Still working on that part ...

For now, this should get you there
