Though I have found different odd parts of the US and trying to form their new area very interesting, so yes I have heard of the State of "Jefferson" before.
Also parts of Texas and NYC have also wanted to break off, among a number of others as well.

@BluntSm0ker I've wondered if it might be good to let the different areas break up into smaller states.
It was a much different time, but one could argue it worked for North and South Carolina. And West and Virginia.
And NYC has something like 42% of the States Population, it potentially could be their own state.
I think it might have too many issues with the Senate, but I think it if we could find a work around there, it might be interesting.
