If you gaze long into the abyss,the abyss will also gaze into you.Thats a quote btw,got through lots of traumatic events during my childhood and i just wanted to hurt the world back,once you get through something tough you have 2 choices either accept what happened or emerge yourself into hate(thats the abyss) and seek to hurt others just so they can feel what you felt.People are different this means different reactions

Several factors: some form of conditioning that led them to believe that way or be that way; it's what they have always known so it's what they do. There is always a choice to rise above the situation but some may not have the resources, support, education to change their point of view or not sure how to access these resources
or could be too far gone even when an opportunity has presented itself, due to fear of change, of the unknown, a mixture of anger, hatred, anxiety, substance abuse, mental health issues that can't easily be fixed.
Sometimes it just takes 1 person to make that difference to someone broken but some are completely too far gone or never met that person that could have possibly made that difference.
Just my thoughts, probably one for the psychology and sociology books.

@Curlychords: Well said.

it depends on the one choice you make a broken person doesn't have that line that we don't cross. there's still a line but its easy to cross it.

then there's a choice. or your mind is broken and you cross the line and keep going or you look at that line and know that you were broken because someone crossed the line.

but since being broken is most of the time already to late it is mostly hurting someone.

@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: but is learning from it and not repeating it good enough? ( i mean if you broke a plate because you took too many in your hand and you learn not too do that its possible but a mistake you can't fix any more. for example you can buy a new plate but killing someone is different you can't buy a new person to replace him)

@popmol: It has to be good enough in the imperfect world we live in. Forgiveness and repentance are a big part of growing up.
popmol · 22-25, M
@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: forgiving i would never do. they don't deserve it. but maybe repentance is acceptable.

Some live with their demons, they are the one who hurt others and become sadist. Some under them, and be depressed for life me develop an inferiority complex like, "no one likes me, I'm worthless.". Some live above them, and they are the ones who make a positive difference in their own and that of others. I know different people deal with things in different ways, but when you are an adult, everything is a choice.

@ragingfire: Interesting. Thank you. :)

You are welcome. My heart really bleeds for those who are depressed or are suffering from some ptsds . I always reach them out and help them, but you know, most of the time I end up getting hurt, drained and they wreck me up. I'm still not giving up. I have gotten over my horrible past helping myself, so whenever I see someone inbthe same plight, I just can back off. I'll help. @Aidolovemostofyourthoughts:

I don't think they're becoming better people. If you've been abused as a child, in a relationship or generally broken by life you have an opinion.
Either I can't stand the abuse I've suffered and I will stop at nothing to prevent any harm or suffering on others or you can go the other way, I've had a terrible life and I will make others suffer for it. Most of us choose the first option
SW-User
@ajoite: Some actually do rise above all of that and choose not to hurt other people. They may be dysfunctional humans but not harmful to others.
different strokes for different folks? lol

@ZeroG: LOL. Aye.

@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: So much of it starts in a prepared mind!
SW-User
@Pfuzylogic: Yes. I agree. Acceptance has to set in to prepare a mind.

@Aidolovemostofyourthoughts: That is the first enabler to success. That works in education or learning also.
hurt?

you only get hurt if you chose to be
SW-User
@theclocks: That's bull. :)
no

There is a vast amount of empty space between "someone hurting you" and "you getting hurt"
SW-User
@theclocks: You make things seem black and white. I don't think they are.
Lack of right knowledge in former case and awareness in the latter one.

If they suffer they want others to suffer too

@Selah: Yes.
But something probably drives these choices.

Do no harm

If you can't help anyone ok, but don't harm them.
