What is it that makes some broken people to use their brokenness as a tool to hurt other people and others to rise above and become better people?

Some live with their demons, they are the one who hurt others and become sadist. Some under them, and be depressed for life me develop an inferiority complex like, "no one likes me, I'm worthless.". Some live above them, and they are the ones who make a positive difference in their own and that of others. I know different people deal with things in different ways, but when you are an adult, everything is a choice.

@ragingfire: Is it really a choice though, even as an adult? Can people really help how they react?

They can, if they take their brain with them and train it to do so. West has taught me that everything's hormone driven and people have no control over how their bodies react, but east( monks of china and Tibet ) and their age old philosophy and scientific practices taught me that self-discipline is totally attainable when you allow yourself to attain it. It works in their society, among their community. Just that the concepts are not known in the western world, or just isnt acknowledged by the industry driven western science, where everything is classified as an issue, and experts are assigned to help only when you have tons of money or heavy insurance backing you up. Does it help? Most of the time it doesn't. @Aidolovemostofyourthoughts:

You are welcome. My heart really bleeds for those who are depressed or are suffering from some ptsds . I always reach them out and help them, but you know, most of the time I end up getting hurt, drained and they wreck me up. I'm still not giving up. I have gotten over my horrible past helping myself, so whenever I see someone inbthe same plight, I just can back off. I'll help. @Aidolovemostofyourthoughts:
