Better to be loved or respected?

love and respect cant be mutually exclusive and happiness to me is success

if you are loved you are respected

just something real..

I'm already respected and it doesn't mean much. I don't want to lead. I just want to make my own path. Then again, I've never been loved, so I can't say if it's much better.
