It is all a matter of perception and conditioning.
If you have never known rude or blunt people, you would likely find them to be quite hard to be around or interact with, especially if your sense of worth in the world was expanded in positive and peaceful interaction spaces.
Then again, if the blunt and rude types are the norm for you, and you like to lay it down thick and don't take any shit from anybody, these "sweet talkers" probably seem like they are either being completely dishonest, or have had certain portions of their anatomy removed.
