why is expressing and being oneself being looked down by norms and society?

is it to keep the ecosystem of society. is it to keep order or do people [groups and cliques] just envy our individuality to the point that we are the first easy targets because we defy the natural order of society by being different and unique from the rest of the crowd simply by being ourselves

i see injustice when those pesky societal crabs keeps pulling individuals down to their level...

Being from a different era I see the opposite, to be honest, people demanding that their differences, no matter how unappealing or destructive be accepted by the majority.
Being oneself is great, but you have to keep in mind not everyone is going to accept everything about you nor do they have any obligation to do so.
What they do not have a right to do is to be unkind or harassing.

i had heard of people expressing their significance to others...and most of them are branded "special snowflake"

yes it may be a bit of true still to those who really fight for their identities well i applaud them for fighting the influence of peer pressure
