Have you heard of re parenting ?

I've read about it many times... Where you say kind things to yourself daily, show compassion to yourself when you've made a mistake, and comfort yourself gently when facing an issue or tough time. Things a good parent would emotionally provide a child, but you did not receive. They say to picture yourself as a child during these reparenting moments.

I've tried to do this, to be kind to myself, but I can never picture myself as they say to do. I feel I was not a human back then, I existed only to be ridiculed, do work in the house, and make sure i didn't talk too much to annoy my mom. Or even enrage her , to the point of physical assault.
How can one access that inner child? How can you find the child inside, when they didn't even exist in their own mind or world?

@Baybreeze i hope you can refocus your mind to a better frame regarding yourself i never heard of re parenting before but everyone should gave loving adoring supportive parents.. it's very sad that that's not always the case idk whats wrong with some people that they don't care for their own children properly 😐

@GoFish Well a big part is she has three mood and personality disorders. And refuses any therapy ever, or any medication. So those alone have symptoms of rage, aggression and no empathy. But, there's been times she enjoyed me suffering, and to me it felt like nightmare. It's very very hard reframing my mind but I'm really determined. Thank you again 🍀

If one can make it stick, would be a very good thing.

Practiced patience and had some insight into what was happening to me. My Morher was never straight about the facts until at least 40 years later. Forgiving my Father had a major impact on my life and allowed my brother to redevelop a relationship with my Father. Therefor I fully embrace my younger self.

I did a lot of reparenting and felt similar- I had no compassion for my younger self because there was such a disconnect. I can’t feel any feelings toward a younger me.
What I was able to do is imagine it’s a different child those things were happening to. Or I’m a person that’s not me, and at that point I can feel compassion.
You could try treating yourself how you’d treat another person that you love.

@itsok I'm sorry you have felt this too..it's a very sad thing to feel. That's a good idea to think of me as another child, then I easily can find compassion. Appreciate that🪻
