While most people are upset about Data Centers.

I’m more interested in how fast their internet connection is. 🛜

AI data centers can run completely without the internet. This setup is commonly referred to as an air-gapped environment, where the data center is entirely isolated from external public networks. Instead of downloading data from the cloud, teams physically bring data into the facility using encrypted hard drives or transfer it over highly secure, closed local networks that don't connect to the outside world. It’s the digital equivalent of a bank guard hand-delivering a locked briefcase.

I think it would be funny if someone robbed them & only took all of the ram/memory chips...

would be more profitable than robbing a bank these days... 🤔

@wildbill83 Thieves made off with two Nvidia-branded trailers belonging to self-driving truck developer PlusAI, only to discover they were carrying 40,000 pounds of sand.

According to Wired, the unusual theft unfolded in Newark, California, after a PlusAI executive received a congratulatory text from an acquaintance who spotted two of the company’s trailers near their workplace.

There was just one problem. The trailers weren’t supposed to be there. PlusAI believed they were still parked outside its warehouse around half a mile away.

Police were called and recovered the two trailers, which displayed logos for both PlusAI and Nvidia. The companies are working together on AI software and autonomous trucking technology.

According to PlusAI spokesperson Lauren Kwan, the trailers had been secured with hand locks, which were broken during the theft. Whoever took them appears to have connected their own truck cabs to the trailers before driving away.

However, the trailers weren’t carrying Nvidia GPUs, servers, or other valuable AI hardware. Instead, each was loaded with roughly 20,000 pounds of sand.

“PlusAI uses simulated loads in its trailers to assist with research and development testing,” Kwan said, confirming that the trailers were recovered with “40,000 pounds of sand intact.”
