I'm realizing how short life is.

Historical events that I once thought of as ancient, now seem more recent than ever. You would think that the more time passes, the further in the past they would seem. No. As I get older, I realize how contemporary they are.

The average age of death worldwide is 73 years old. 73 years. That sounded like a long time when I was younger. It is just the blink of an eye.

I visited a local museum today as part of my holiday in Scotland. I was shown around by a volunteer who kept pointing to things that she had owned...literally. A grandfather clock was one thing I remember and the photos contained images of her grandmother as a child and even one of her at school. She seemed proud to be in a museum, but I'm not sure I would be.
@FreddieUK Why not?

@SinlessOnslaught Two reasons: a) it would make me feel I was beyond living today and b) I am a private person - which I why I only appear on this platform and nowhere else on the web.

I think of time often.
To think the year 2000 was 26 years ago is shocking to me.
Where has 26 years gone?
It seems the first 30 years of my life took forever..but the next 29 has whizzed by!

here is some fresh hazelnuts to cheer you up

seems like weve all lived through more historic events in the past 100 years. than the past 1000 years combined.

everyday is something new these days...
@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout That's only your percieved self importance speaking.

@SinlessOnslaught Let’s be fair. He did say ‘it seems’ rather than ‘we have’. I imagine those who’ve lived through world wars, plagues and natural disasters felt the same through time.
@FreddieUK That's just a semantic.
I have had a couple cousins died in their 50s. Most of my family has died late 70s or early 80s. I only have one aunt she is 93 I believe
@Jasmine2026 She is blessed
@SinlessOnslaught she is actually in pretty good health for her age. She is lucky for sure

Yes. The things I take for granted that didnt exist when I was born. The things that are disappearing as I watch. The postage stamp. Encyclopedia. Unlocked doors..😷
