They are trying to get members to come to church, they have no concept of sex so this sentence seems perfectly legit to them.

@PoohSmasher It was probably totally accidental but it reminds me of a major Church of England Synod debate years ago on fostering relations with the Church of Rome.
One of the stumbling-blocks was the matter of contraception, and emotions were running pretty high within the dog-collars.
