what does it mean when you only want to interact with people from the same background as you

for eg, i'm 48 now, white british, born in chester, grew up in manchester, but a lot of my family are native Londoners who now live in kent and i really i only want to associate or interact with people who are the same as me, from the same or similar background and exclude, ignore or avoid everyone else?? i think i'm very insular really....but i always have been like that.

but what does that mean about me and do you understand or think it's wrong??

I think it says you are feeling very frightened and that you only feel safe with what is immediately familiar.
I notice that when people feel safe, they start to broaden their horizons and explore. They would be happy to travel and experience other people, countries and cultures. Even though there's diversity in what people believe and how they live their lives, there's also similarities too. We can make connections based on shared similarities and learn from each other. The more connections we make, the safer we feel so we come full circle and start to explore some more. Exploring means learning, more knowledge, more connections, more personal support and a stronger EQ. 🙂
