On a holiday to Ireland, we drove around for ages looking for some tourist attraction then got out of the car and walked (in the rain obviously, Ireland is lush and green for a reason) to an obelisk with a very important sign which read... "Here on this spot on September 5th 1837 absolutely nothing happened." Well we found the middle of nowhere. It was nice. I would recommend but I have no idea how to find it twice!

It isn't an X/Y thing, it is a mental impression. It adjusts to whatever you are trying to do or a place you can go. Like saying people live in the boonies.
There is the edge of darkness which may or may not have a middle of nowhere, or maybe a middle of darkness, which is probably a pretty scary desolate place.
