Interesting phrases part 25

This is 2 phrases:
Fat chance....... Slim chance
Why is it that the only time fat and slim are looked at the exact same way it means it probably won't happen?

I think fat chance is typically meant sarcastically. I think it’s like saying, “there’s a big chance,” but when you say “fat” that’s a clue that you’re using sarcasm, so you actually mean the opposite. Does that make sense?

Is your yard arm different from your house or car arm?
@shannonredtail My house is not armed, though its occupant is.

My car is, sadly, armless (the EV wars, you know).

I require yard arms on all of my vessels with actual sails. And planks and cannon.

@shannonredtail If you or XX's are sun tanning, you should def bare arms as is your right, and even all else.
