I had family members active in the Civil Rights movement, so I can remember my parents on the phone with relatives discussing the assassination of Medgar Evers and the Alabama church bombing. But the biggest news story on tv of course, was the assassination of JFK. I remember like it was yesterday, my mother explaining that everyone was sad because "a bad man had hurt our president". 🥺

@bijouxbroussard A big wake up call at 5 years old....
@fun4us2b It was just before my fourth birthday.

@bijouxbroussard I was home in the basement "rec room" watching TV when the news of the JFK assassination broke. Hopped on my bike and pedalled out to the high school athletic fields to give the news to my Dad who has running football practice there.

@bijouxbroussard I was 10 when JFK was shot so I remember it well.

@bijouxbroussard wow, is it a true memory, or one told to you so many times that it feel like true memory. I have no memories before my mother's death when I was 11.
@samueltyler2 I have actual memories going back to when I was 3 and had chicken pox. I remember the itching, the bumps, even the smell of the medication.

@bijouxbroussard you have a mixed blessing then.
