I was thinking of getting

A transit van for a sort of camping van, but I realized that I really wouldn't use it for that. I live in the mountains and the woods, so I have no need to camp.

I was listening to a podcast where one of the hosts was talking about taking two day trips. I realized that is something I should do. Then I realized, instead of getting a hotel room, I could use the van!

I love rationalization! It helps me validate my weird wants !

There are a couple of sites where you can rent an RV and see if you enjoy the experience. You can find out if it works for you and then begin to explore the various options further. There are lots of options to choose from.

@FoxyGoddess Well that's kind of what I'm saying. You can choose from a mini pod that tows behind a motorcycle up to a luxbus with heated marble floors. The choices are nearly endless.

@GerOttman I took a look at what was local and you are right! But the rental is the cost of a hotel room so 🤔🤔🤔 Long term, it's probably still cheaper than insurance, registration and all of that. But can I bring my cat with me? Lol

@FoxyGoddess you can bring your cat. A rental would be a try before you buy thing. I think what you might like is whats called a Class B. those are typically oversized converted vans. A little tight on space and amenities but affordable and easy to drive.

We have a mid sized 5th wheel but it stays on a seasonal site right now.

I always thought the little Ford Transit Connect vans looked kind of cool, but it was a shame that it was a crappy unreliable brand like Ford.

I've felt similarly about a couple of different retro Citroén vans.
