Months old interaction that nobody saw my reply on so reposting the reply.
Some jackass demanded thanks from another user to his country of the US for "coming to the rescue".
My response:
Where was the US when Nazi Germany systematically killed 13 million people by industrialized genocide, invaded and committed war crimes against Poland, and killed another several million by means of blitzkrieg warfare? Why did we wait until we got attacked by their ally (Japan) before doing something about that?
Where was the US when our own troops ran into Mai Lai and massacred an entire village of women and children who had no weapons?
Where was the US during the Bentalha massacre or any of the other massacres in Algeria in the 90's? And where was the US during the Black Decade that followed? Kids were being burned.
Where was the US during things like the Abu Grhaib prisoner torture or the Nissour Square massacre?
Where was the US when Hussein used nerve gas on civilians in northern Iraq?
Where was the US during the collapse of Yugoslavia or Tibet or Ethiopia?
Who bombed Syria?
Where is the US right now while entire ethnicities and countries are being genocided? Palestine, Ukraine, certain groups in China? Countless more.
Does preventing world war for 80 years mainly involve sitting around and contuing profitable trade deals with genocidal regimes—who thrive with our company while murdering countless innocent people—until the threat turns to us? Is that what we're demanding respect and thanks for?
[End]
May delete depending on how I feel later and btw this is coming from a recovering Trump supporter.
