Honestly, building a countertop and cabinet to go with a single rose in a vase would absolutely win my heart.

@FoxyQueen holy Jesus! Your given a gift of a rose and now the guy is bonded into building you a cabinet?
I cant imagine what he'd have to do if he bought you a nice gift and dinner. Build you a deck? 😆😆😆

@NightsWatch Well, we'd need a nice place to eat the dinner he thoughtfully brought, right?
Tbh, my intent with my comment was that i love acts of service over gifts. So if he built me a cabinet and counter, that would mean so much more than a rose. He not only provided a service, he shows he cares about the home and he wants it to be as nice as he can get it. Those traits have far more value than a flower.

@FoxyQueen oh i got your point that the effort / intent can be so much more then a purchased gift.
What about say something smaller ...like a small piece of art that would fit on a shelf??

@NightsWatch That is doable too, especially if they made it themselves.
