2 cycles out of others -- Oratory and Loeb
From The Oratory of Classical Greece -- Demosthenes, more than any of the others but the others as well
There are ambitious cycles within the whole reading project, one of which is the Demosthenes Speeches, there are so many footnotes that for the sake of fluidity while initially reading I must forego many of them, saying to my mind save them for the 2nd grand read through. What captured my interest on first choosing to get the first volume was how the contextual notes would give you a tangible taste for those times, and that is quite simply the number 1 reason why I would spend extra on these editions and not just settle for the Delphi complete collection.
The other series I plan on getting, one volume at a time is the Loeb Classical Library of Early Greek Philosophy, a crucial body of work that all Presocratic nutcases should devour, and i'd like to be a Presocratic nutcase.
My enthusiasm about these things are not needed at SW, but as long as I present my sharings in a spirit of goodwill, and genial blandness, what harm could they do that other innocuous sharings afford?
I want also to share here that my SW activity has to reflect my reading lifestyle, 80% of my activity will be for posts like this, 10% on responding or just reacting to comments on them, and 10% on replying to other people's posts.
My learning program is unorthodox, there's a good chance it'll all be for nothing, but if only it is to get through unacceptable circumstances, ie: to enjoy my time, then that time will be well spent.
