what do you do when you struggle to keep your home tidy and clean

my mother and father brought me up to be clean and tidy, 'cleanliness is next to godliness' as it's said...but because i struggle with mental problems i struggle to keep my place/ living quarters tidy and clean...i find it a great effort to clean, tidy and hoover...and i've let things go a bit in my apartment...if my mum saw it she would be upset with me....she lives an hour away now but is always encouraging me on the phone to keep the kitchen clean and tidy....but at the moment it's a bit of a mess.

can anyone relate or understand what i'm saying?

Yes, 100% relate and agree. My room was a total disaster before ramadan. And i few days before ramadan I decided to tidy up my room. It became mess again but on the last 10th nights of ramadan i got everything done so i can focus with the prayers and stuff. And we got eid holiday her for a week, so before i went back to my parent’s place i clean up, put some dehumidifier, air freshener, and stuff, and i promised myself to be more organized even after Ramadan.

And like a years ago, i got sick. And my room as still a mess. My bf contacted my friend that lives near my place to come visit me. And i was so ashamed because she saw my room and she just started to tidy up for me. And took me to the doctor. And the doctor said “if in 3 days you’re not getting better, come again I’ll give you some recommendation letter to go to the psychiatric clinic.”

Like whaaat? I didn’t say anything about my mental condition but she just knew.
After that, I subscribed a gym membership. It was better.

Maybe you want to start working out too? Like first step to get things together.
