In my parents’ home, back in the summer of 1976. It happened while I was visiting relatives in New Orleans and the rest of my family was camping in Big Basin.
The burglars were local teens and they took my father’s coin collection, some of my mother’s jewelry, my leather coat and boom box and a small tv, at least that’s what I know about. But then they made a huge mistake.
My mother’s car and my hoopty were in the garage. If they had taken Mom’s car they might’ve gotten away. But they took mine and it crapped out on I-280.
The police got them, and we got our things back. The story was in the local paper.
