“It’s so nice and peaceful here,”
My nurse said last time she was over. The statement struck me, because it doesn’t often feel peaceful to me. My living situation tends to stress me out. But that’s an issue of my own heart. I don’t have to be ungrateful for what’s good about it despite it not being how I’d prefer (because who wouldn’t prefer a clean and safe environment with considerate housemates who contribute to taking care of their home?)
I don’t know what life is like for her other patients in their homes or at hospitals where they stay; what chaos they go through in their lives. Whatever she often sees, she’d marveled over the peacefulness of the house, and I’ve been thinking on it ever since.
I’ve been offered another place to stay before, and it’s emotionally so chaotic that it’s not an option for me at all despite being a nice “normal” house to live in. That whole side of town is actually pretty chaotic. What a trade-off. Life can always be harder.
Lately, I’m finding the most unconventional blessings. (I’ll spare the details) I know there are people who have it so much worse. I know there are people who have it a bit worse. And of course , some have it much better as well. There are always things to be grateful about, and wonderful things in life despite the mess. (There’s always some kind of mess. We don’t get to make it through life untouched by hardships and chaos of any kind)
It is peaceful here if I allow myself to have that peace. Praise the Lord. 😌
