Why would someone create false rumours about another person?

@SW-User It's so weird though, when these people assume that if you are friendly with a person on QnA, you have to somehow be in a private relationship with them. It's insane.

It is!! One lady here was messaging People about me and telling people to block me.
Didn’t even know her, accused me of playing around with someone lol 😂
Wasn’t even true, I’ll never understand people like that.
Someone warned me and sent me the screenshots.
🫨. Funny thing was they accused me of stalking them, when they even admitted they watched my account lol 😂 can’t make this stuff up!

@SW-User Damn, lol. This is both comic and tragic. I bet when it was happening, it felt awful for you. But I have heard a few such stories. Some people are unhinged and somehow manage to have followings of people who will do their bidding.

@SW-User I think they are just wound up in their misery and somehow attract friends who deepen it in such ways via gossip and so on.
And they pick people who don't have back ups. Lol

And even if it is and they are going to weave stories about me, as long as they keep out of my way I am good.

Yeah I think you just have to let it go, it’s a reflection on who they are, I guess it’s just part of online life with so many personalities.

I’m not sure, I’ve had two older woman target me here.

@SW-User two that did it to me and a couple of other friends of mine were in a similar age range to myself. Both had been friends and quitenwhat i did to upset or offend i'll never know. Both like to hold court here with the guys...lol. to be honest, i dunno if they are still here but i'd hazzard a guess they are.

The other in her 20s. That was different.

Being nice doesn't do ya many favours here. Many see it as a weakness.....clearly the people that see me that way don't know me very well. I never wanted to 'toughen up' as ive been told here by many.....including you Mr Z. But i've had to alter the way i use this site, which is a shame, but its tge only way I could stay.

The really funny thing is, when someone puts up a post like this, ( and ive done so many times in the past) people sympathise and agree that the people acting badly are in the wrong/ jealous/ unhinged or whatever...... yet those people are (or were when it happened to me) just about the most active and popular posters on the entire site!
On the odd occassion i've shared privately with friends who treated me badly and spread rumours, I wasn't believed!!

Sadly that seems to be the normal here, they are often liked by many, many will never know that side of them. I speak up about it now.

@SW-User i always did and got slated for it.... as I said, I became known for being paranoid and over sensitive. But, in the last couple of years i've learned of a number of peeps been treated a similar way by the same groups of people.
I dont see any of them here anymore so dunno if they are still here. If they are, im sure they will be informed 'that daft sad ole cow RubySoo is still moaning about what happened years ago' by someone! Lol. And, im sure they will still get a kick out of knowing that...lol
