Full of pain. I spent yesterday a.m. decluttering my deceased parents' basement. The pain is both physical and emotional.

Do you know why you feel hollow?

@SW-User I'm so sorry unfortunately it will need its time. I lost a parent when young The grief is something else....feel better soon 🌹

Yes, I have an idea but processing them is more painful

@SW-User :( I am sorry. Did you find anything interesting down there?
SW-User
@Eklipse Thanks. I'm new to grief - - never lost anyone close before. I find it comes and goes in waves and isn't predictable.

@Allelse Thank you. Yes, there are a lot of interesting finds. I don't think my parents knew half of what was down there. It seems to have been boxed up and forgotten: everything from old cards and letters from family to my dad's childhood toys to my mom's collection of plates and candy dishes. I'll be selling some of the stuff at consignment.

@SW-User I'm figuring things out lately in alternative ways....it's helping me a lot because I get anxiety and jumbled up. Hopefully it will improve in time 🌹 🙏 it needs it's time.

@SW-User I went through that when my grandmother died, there was this one room that you could barely even enter. There was so much stuff in there, and a lot of it was just letters. PILES OF LETTERS!!! And calendars and art projects my grandma never got around to finishing. She seemed to love collecting things for art projects but then never actually doing them. We donated so much stuff.

@Allelse Yes... piles of letters and photographs from old friends. My parents really got into the HS class reunion thing after retirement (they were HS sweethearts). Plus, my Mum had gotten into crafting with plastic flower arrangements. She and dad made their own Christmas cards and sent tins of stuff every year during the holidays to all these people. You could literally stock a holiday themed store with what was in their basement. I took some of it, gave some to family and donated the rest.
