What exactly leads people to start taking drugs? Share your thoughts?

Problems, troubles, struggle and various types of stess, everyone has to face it. The ones filthy rich today, even they had to face all types of challenges once to get to where they are today. Even if you figure out a short-cut to success, it won't be a cakewalk.

Then, why some folks become completely hopeless and find solace in drugs? I don't like drug-addicts at all.

My friend was a drug-addict. Despite the continuous efforts of his family and some friends, to keep him away from drugs, he would figure out the way to buy some form intoxication and be high. He escaped from rehab thrice. He was under the observation of good Doctors and Therapists.

I parted ways with him because I had no other option left. I asked him to choose either drugs or my friendship. He chose drugs. I never saw him again.

Underlying every addiction is some kind of trauma someone is trying to escape. Some people tend to choose drugs.

@SW-User Like I said, drugs aren't the solution. There are several other ways to overcome Trauma.🙏

@SoLeRiMix But to the desperate, they may not realise those other ways. Don't get me wrong, I am against drugs too. But it is good to understand where they're also coming from.

@SW-User Well, I respect your viewpoint but their perspective, reasons and excuses (especially) makes no sense to me.

I am sorry but it is like that for me. Drugs or any kind of addiction destroys one's life. I learnt it in childhood and grew up with this thought-process.🙏

@SoLeRiMix it is not my viewpoint. It is the viewpoint of professionals in healing of addictions. Like Gabor Mate.
You are blessed to be rational minded. Not everyone is.

@SW-User Be it the view-point of medical professionals, I'll respect it but won't buy it.

Everyone is born with basic wisdom of judging right and wrong. Before consuming any type of drug, an individual knows that it might turn into addiction later. Yet, the individual costumes it. So, that's the wrong choice he/she made despite a sound mind. That's all I have to say. I rest my case your honour.

You have been nice to me throughout this discussion. I won't discuss it further because we both have set of points that are valid. This debate won't end. My mindset won't change. Likewise, it's for you.

I have no empathy or sympathy for drug addicts. I am sorry but it is like that for me.

I must mention, an individual with will to quit drugs would always have my support and respect. Provided, he's able to get rid of the addiction completely.🙏

@SoLeRiMix That's alright. I'm not here to change your mind or anyone elses mind. I'm only sharing what I am aware of. Understanding something just adds compassion, it does not mean you accept it or even indulge it in someone by keeping them around.
Everyone is born with a basic wisdom, the wisdom then can be deteriorated by nurture and environment in such a way that it ceases to exist in the forefront of someones mind. Everyone is also born with a different way and capacity to handle their nurture and environment.

I beg to differ on this one again. Nothing against your perspective. I am fine with it.😇
