Being called sir

So, hey I just wanted to share something.
I'm a girl, with short hair and I'm often mistaken for a boy, called sir or whatever.
And I think it doesn't bother me that much when I'm alone, but when I'm with a friend or family member they usually are more embarassed that I am and correct the person right away, or they just look at me and laught, make fun of me. And thats when it bothers me the most.
So I dont know how to react or what to say.
Anyone in thug situation ?

I'm not sure what to say except that when people laugh inappropriately it is usually because they feel uncomfortable with the situation they are dealing with.

Possibly they make fun of you in order to reassure their own minds that you are not a threat to them or their mental well being which feels threatened by you being "different".

It could be a sign that their minds are weak or immature or maybe you simply caught them totally off guard and laughter is their way of normalizing the situation again.

Their inappropriate laughter shows a failure in their minds and not in yours. I think your lesson is maybe to learn to be understanding of how uncomfortable you make certain people feel. Either way whenever this happens you will learn something and so will they.
