Do you have an interest or hobby that just surprises the hell out of people!?

I think with me, most people get really surprised at my knowledge on cars - I’ve always liked them and can recognise most vehicles on the road, name the maker and the model 😊 I have decent knowledge on the mechanics but don’t tend to get stuck into the mechanical side too much.

I play the piano. It’s not a unique hobby or anything but I always get a surprised “really?!!” from people whenever I bring it up
Claire2k · 22-25, F
Not too many people are musical so I reckon when the non musical people hear someone can play something it’s always a surprise!! @MiserableAtBest
@Claire2k we all like hearing it though...

I know how to play the spoons
Claire2k · 22-25, F
Lol - amazingly I know what playing the spoons actually means - one of my friends dads was responding to us having a conversation about musical skills and highlighted the skill of ‘playing the spoons’ lol 😆 @SW-User
My surprising hobby is I try to be a failure-Buddhist, the idea being instead of beating myself up for failing I try to work with the wreakage and alter my goals somewhat

@Elevatorpitches no such thing as failure... They're all just learning experiences and the more you go through, the more you learn, if your smart and pay attention

I don't think anything surprises most around me anymore. They've grown use to me taking interest in many new things. My latest is a chain saw. :)

I make harps. Not kits or anything - draw designs, timber, etc. Started because I was in a rut with guitar, heard an Irish harp and was so ignorant I thought it would be simple to make. I couldn't even hammer a nail straight. All the barriers were just things to learn. The harps are beautiful and sound beautiful.
But have lots of interests. Paint in oils. Brew fine ales. Write books. Woodwork (came from learning to love the journey when building that first harp.) Play bass, guitar, mandolin/ mandola... Not enough time for everything.

I do digital art...mostly portraits. I'm not great, but getting better. It always surprises people, I guess because I am middle aged and they probably expect me to be just knitting maybe. 😆
