do you think lies eventually come true the more you believe them as you continue to maintain them?

poisonouscupcake · 22-25, F
i think they become less of a lie and more of a manipulation tactic as time goes on
being lied to for so long makes it real to me, i remember when my ex told me she didn’t cheat on me the first time and she just lied cos she thought she did and she never understood why it didn’t matter that she didn’t actually do it because she let me believe she did

When you continue to lie, that lie becomes an identity and your behaviour is affected by that lie. Which means what you attract is affected by it. So whereas it may not directly become true, your experiences will behave like it is.

Maybe mind create an illusion where lies seem to be true even though they don’t come true. Victims of gaslighting and narcissistic abuse believe in what the abuser makes them believe.

That's a really interesting question! Gets at the definition of what a lie is; is it something that isn't true or something that you know isn't true?

@SW-User my brain is kinda crying at this

some. But that's more self fulfilling prophecy than lies as such I guess. Obviously objective lies dont change reality though
wackidywack · 22-25
@adorbz how would you tell if it was mere a self fulfilling prophecy than a lie ?
billie jean is not my lover.

She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth

SW-User
No. You can come to believe your own lies if you keep repeating them tho
