What's the point of jail?

We spend so much tax moneh on it and jailbirds still can't be enslaved anymore in America. I get why it used to be a thing back then because it was slavery by another name. But now that times have changed, why are prisons used and no other forms of punishment? 🤔

If someone steals a bike or breaks someone's glass or pushes someone, why do we take years from their life instead of just simply punishing them? Do you know how long years are? Even worse, they network with other criminals even worse than they are and they're not in there teaching each other to behave 😂

Why do we take years and decades from people's lives in response to something small or simple? ,_,

Okay. Sadly, In this country, money makes the world go round. There are some fairly deviated people who will do ANYTHING and convince people of anything just to help people make money. Helping people make money seems to be more important that doing what is healthy and right for the community. It’s a conundrum. For instance, The insurance industry provides grants for ticketing speeding cars. Yes, it important, but sometimes officers have to meet a minimum ticket quota for speeding. So they play hide an catch. It’s too bad people are not punished for real crimes. How do I know this? Because businesses include the average cost of losing money to thieves (and that’s ONE reason why we pay higher prices for products.) So yep. Not only do we pay taxes we also pay for theft. Basically the customer pays for it so the grocery stores don’t make a big fuss about theft. Weird and sad. Jail. Never been. I agree is hardly school reform.
