@SW-User well, mine was real (sorta) as I picked it up just by being around my southern family members.
And really it happened natural, when I was down there, I'd just start talking like them.
But when I went back north, I'd still have it, but with each day it'd decline and about day 3 to day 5 I'd be talking normal again, other than some key phases...
It's just that for a while there, I could turn it on at will always easier to turn it on than off lol.
Now I'd have to hear them talk for a little to get it going again. It's been too long since I've heard them
@TurtlePink No. my Dad was born there and moved to the US as a teen. My Mum was from Northern Ireland and moved to the US as a teen too. My parents met each other in college (the two foreigners,) fell in love, got married, and me and my two brother were all born in the US. And that’s where I live.
@TurtlePink The reason I talk weird is that my parents lived on a farm, cause my Dad’s a cattle rancher. Or was, cause he’s retired now. And we lived way out in the country. So the only people I heard talk was my Dad (He has a very heavy Icelandic accent,) my Mum (She had her Northern Ireland accent,) my older brother (who talks like me,) and a ranch hand... until I went to school. So I’m a mixture of all that with heavy emphasis on Icelandic because Dad spoke both English and Icelandic to us growing up, so I know both. He even spoke mostly Iceland to us when we were younger. So I have more Icelandic accent than probably anything. My accent is kind of weird even for Icelandic, though... because it’s mixed in with Northern Irish and MidWest rural US.
@SW-User in America, we have the Southern, New York, and standard accent (seen on news reports). All are from America and fall under American accents, even though each is different.

@TheBlackPowerRanger If I am having a conversation with someone from the south it takes all my strength to keep from speaking with the accent back to them. I feel like I would sound like I am mocking them. I can't help it, I easily pick up on accents. haha
