I love my kids and they get everything they want. I do what I can to insure they grow up to be responsible respectable adults but I definitely don't want anymore haha

No you're not.
Shortly before she died at 91, I asked my mother if she had any regrets. She answered, "being a mother."

I do know that motherhood was a terrible shock to her from the moment I was born. She had said it countless times in countless ways. For her, it was the loss of freedom for the duration of my childhood and for her that was unbearable.
It wasn't her fault that she didn't know how to love -- she had been far too abused as a child.

I asked her other things too, like what she was proud and happy about, what she was grateful for, and whether there was any one she wanted to send a message to or make amends to, but those answers are not relevant to the original question.

@hartfire I hope your childhood wasn't horrible for you. Sorry if it was
@texasborn89 No one has an ideal childhood because it's not possible for any parent to be "ideal" or "perfect". Almost everyone carries wounds, whether they admit it or not.
It's okay. I found my way to healing and that's all that matters.
Thank you for your kindness. It's rare on this site.

@hartfire My childhood was truly awful with my mother a powerful respected person both in her cultlike group within the old CP and in the everyday world where she was acclaimed as a child development expert (!).
