Racism Extreme?

What's wrong with Aunt Jemima, and Uncle Ben's being black? I don't see how that is racist to have them on their products. It seems racist to be taking them off the products.

She was real her name was Nancy Green. She was a freed slave who used her profits to do good. Common sense suggests that it is a tribute to her but many lack common sense.
MethDozer · M
@curiosi No she isn't. Aunt Jemima isn't a real person. Nancy Green is just a women who posed for an artist to draw a mascot from. That doesn't make aunt Jemima real and the caricature has changed several times already from the mammy type we knew as kids.

It isn't any kind of tribute to anyone, its just a coincidence the model was a freed spaceship did good with her profits.
@MethDozer Fake News!

@adaddy4u That aunt jemima is a real person and a tribute? Indeed it is.

@MethDozer Well you're telling a half truth.

This from BlackHistory.com

The woman we know as Aunt Jemima is in fact a real person, but her real name was actually Nancy Green. She did not create the famous Aunt Jemima recipe, but she was one of the first African American models in history to become the face of a popular food product.

It was actually two white guys, Chris L. Rutt and Charles Underwood, who came up with the idea to create a ready-mixed, self-rising pancake flour with a Black woman's face on the box. Rutt came up with the name after watching a white actress perform in blackface during a ministrel show. During her performance, she sang a song called "Old Aunt Jemima" and he thought the name had a ring to it.

They filed the "Aunt Jemima" trademark in 1893, but the Aunt Jemima pancake mix did not debut until 1889. At that time, Rutt and Underwood had sold the brand to the R.T. Davis Milling Company in St. Joseph, Missouri, who decided to hire a model to be the face of Aunt Jemima. Nancy Green was the woman they hired, and the product was an instant hit across the country.

Green reportedly earned a lot of money, was very well-recognized, and worked for 33 years helping to promote the brand. In her personal life, she even became known and well-respected for her work as an advocate who spoke out against poverty and equal rights in Chicago.

Unfortunately, she died on August 30, 1923 in Chicago after being in a car accident.

@adaddy4u Meth does tend to spread it... sadly-- he believes his own mis-information--- Insulting is, he expects others to believe it too.

@sunsporter1649 I don't mind political opinions that differ from my own-- but when they clearly lie,and expect you to believe them and then call you the liar when you refute their lies with facts-- The entire left seems to be pathological liars.. Joe Biden is so obvious to be one.

@GERRI Obvious, or oblivious?

@GERRI See? I am correct
I was spot on.
GERRI · 51-55, F
@MethDozer Unbelievable. I see? Yes, I "see" you have a pathological disorder that you should have checked by mental health expert. I shouldn't have given you credit for even telling a half-truth, actually.
MethDozer · M
@GERRI It was the whole truth. Navy Green was a model for an artist rendition. Aunt Jemima wasn't a really person became someone modeled for the mammy caricature. There's no mistruth in that statement. Call.me crazy all you want but I told no lie or mistruth. Sorry your the truth shatters your cozy little bubble.
What I said and claimed fit perfectly in what you said. Dressing a former slave as a black caricature to model for a corporate product isn't a tribute. Do I really care if stays or goes? No, but for Curiosi and yourself to claim Aunt Jemima ( the character) is a real.person or a tribute to a real person is the real slight against the truth. Get real lady.

A corporation decides to change its logo because they feel it is a good PR move and y'all get all butthurt over it because it upset your " traditions". So y'all invent a New story claiming it as some positive portrayal.

@MethDozer You're just a silly person... You can't even keep up with your own twist, turns and lies... Geesh.
