Why do deep conversations tend to happen at night?

What makes people vulnerable at this time? And what kind of atmosphere is most comforting to get them to open up?

Melatonin production caused by a decrease in blue light from the sun tends to help us relax. It dampens nerve activity in the brain which probably keeps us feeling comfortable to open up instead of stressing or overthinking things.

Plus, there's usually no need to rush the conversation since we've either accomplished everything we needed to or relegated ourselves to putting it off until the next day. This can free up cognitive bandwidth to focus more on the conversation itself and not worrying about anything else.
