Does grief ever lessen? Can one feel so much grief that they cant escape?

@MougyWolf I lost my mum as a kid and that was tough. I mean in some ways I have never gotten over it but also I have got on with my life. This time I feel like it might break me.

In my case, I've lost a couple really good friends to the reaper. And it hurts. Yeah, I've gotten on with my life, but sometimes the memories resurface, and there is nothing I can do, but cry. It's been years ago, but sometimes I still cry.
