I feel so down
My best friend left for military boot camp a few days ago! 🥺I’m happy for this new journey but damn you never realize the value of someone until they’re no longer here .

@DarkenedSoul he'll have to send his address. Probably his parents or you should get mail in a week or so . You have to know what unit all the way down to platoon number.
My address in boot camp was something like:
Pvt, Blah, J. M.
2nd battlion, plt277
USMCRD,
Parris Island, S. C.
(USMC recruit depot)
There are a bunch of people there.
They get there and get assigned to a platoon and the drill instructor will start training how to match as they go get uniforms and other gear then they'll go to the PX for toiletries and that's where they'll have a chance to buy stamps and envelopes paper etc. Then every evening they'll have time to write and get ready for the next day. Your friend is probably in a bit of shock right this minute. I'm laughing. Not at him but I went through it it's funny looking back. I'd like to hear every now and then about his progress.
