How do you feel about the "N" word?

I came to this country (U.S.A) from West Africa when I was like 8 yrs old. I am now 30. Ever since I've been living here, I've heard Blacks refer to each other as the N-word. I could never understood why considering the origins of the word. How ever when someone of another race uses it, it then becomes offensive to the point that they are ready to beat up the person. Why should the meaning of a word change depending on who says it. Whatever happened to us calling each other Brother, Bro or even Homie. Now a days the word is so overused I hear people from all nationalities using it. Many races have been referred to by derogatory words, however you don't see them using different variations of that word towards each other. Personally I feel like if we want other races to stop using it, we have to stop using it ourselves.

One day we heard if we tear down all the Civil War statues...that will help end racism and discrimination. How did that work out?

Then we hear it's the "N" word. If we could just stop white people from saying that word....boy I bet that would help. But the blacks actually use it more than whites do. Ever listen to rap??

The thing is.........it's not statues.....or words.......it's attitudes. Saying a word or not saying a word won't end racism. Seeing a statue or just the base it used to stand on won't end it.

The idea of discrimination is actually uphelp with the N word. Whites know it aggravates blacks to hear it so they use the word to cause problems..intentionally. And blacks actually discriminate against whites by saying our race can say that but yours can't---which ironically is the definition of discrimination. So in protesting against discrimination--blacks actually are guilty of discriminating themselves by saying one race can do this--but yours can't...and that pisses whites off So BOTH races keep the racism pot stirred over...............a word.

Getting rid of the N word or making issue out of who can use it and who can't won't solve racism anymore than tearing down statues did. It's attitude.

@anythingoes477 I agree with you for the most the part. Well said.
I just feel as blacks if we don't like others using it, we should stop it ourselves.
