If a person uses deception to gain something, is it really a win?

What it says to me is that they have no confidence in achieving it by being real.
This win would be hollow at best.

I'd need context to make an honest judgment... But generally speaking deception is bad, and I wouldn't call it a win. However, I don't think the person doing the deceiving would care about it being hollow or not, as long as they get what they want 🤷🏽‍♂️

The heart of one who wants to achieve it only if it's real is very different to the one who will do anything to achieve it. One is good, the other is devious. One with morals, one without.
TheGoodGuy · M
@Spoiledbrat I don't know which ones you mean. Care to clarify?
I can’t just yet. @TheGoodGuy

Deception sometimes is a situational and circumstantial method for survival. Sometimes there isn't money or resources to gain what one wants. Morals and ethics a lot of times will be sacrificed for survival. In the movie Alive 1993 based on a true story a South American rugby team plane crashes in the Andes and some resort to cannibalism to survive. The ones who held on to morals and values and didn't eat human flesh died. So a persons methods for achieving is usually a circumstantial endeavor. People with money are able to achieve things ethically and morally easier than poor people.

@SW-User Imorral unethical or deceptive is not always illegal, socially abrasive yes, but not illegal. I can walk off a job anytime I wish for a better job, with out giving a notice, I won't go to jail for that.
SW-User
@HatandCloak And that's not deception either, just thoughtless. World is full of thoughtless people, and deceptive people too... its a shame people do not hold themselves to a higher set of standards.
Do you mean avoiding revenge that’s hurtful and that will ruin someone’s life? Like that kind deception? @SW-User
CheshireCatalyst · 41-45, M
I love this question.

There are some competitions where using deception is part of the challenge. Negotiation, chess, football. It's inherent.

But in life? I think it's abhorrent to deceive people to get what you want, yet there's a whole section of society (the right wing conmen who are stealing our world) who see it as a hack, a shortcut, they think they can see the matrix and the rest of us are stupid for being honest.

They think they're Vikings sailing to pillage foreign shores, walking into a church and finding no guards, no locks, just faith that nobody would defile the sanctity of holy ground. They're laughing at us as we insist they tell the truth, and they're thinking "Why would I? I've not faced any negative consequences for the lies!"
What if you’ve been deceived by someone and cut that someone’s throat as a result? @CheshireCatalyst
Is all okay? @CheshireCatalyst
SW-User
@CheshireCatalyst The one with Renee Zellweger.
LyricalOne · F
I agree, except the person doing it usually doesn’t care if it’s hollow, just so long as it feeds their ego.
SW-User
@LyricalOne he is also possibly a psychopath with high narcissism.
LyricalOne · F
@SW-User Malignant narcissist and far from the only one.
SW-User
@LyricalOne true that.
SW-User
It would be the same as winning via cheating.
SW-User
@SW-User lol yes but.. Still a lie.
Yes and a lie to everyone including themselves. @SW-User @SW-User
Rokasu · 36-40, M
All my wins are hollow. Come at me bro.
SW-User
@Rokasu 😂 Your lucky minute. I am here. :P Lol
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@SW-User Lucky minute? More like a lucky year lol 😏
SW-User
@Rokasu Hahaha! So cute.

"To some people life is very simple. They believe this is good, this is bad, this is right, this is wrong, no shadings and greys all blacks and whites. Now others of us believe good, bad, right and wrong are many sides complex things but the more we see the less sure we are. You asked me if I believe a man can sprout fur and assume the characteristics of a wolf? Of course not it's fantastic...but I do believe most anything can happen to a man inside his own mind" - Sir John Talbot/ The Wolf Man 1941.
HatandCloak · 36-40, M
@SW-User I understand your view, however I'm not ever going to limit my choices when it comes to survival. I will eat the nasty food, I will sleep in the abandoned building, I will decieve if I need to. I'll always be scum and a looser if I live compare my self by other people's standards. What some opinionates as bad behavior is not universally seen as bad behavior.
SW-User
@HatandCloak You have to do you. Those are the choices you make. I'm merely expressing my thoughts.
HatandCloak · 36-40, M
@SW-User theatricality and deception are powerful agents 😉[media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiaRYQlsjy4]
Starcrossed · 46-50, F
... I dunno, they still have the thing, not someone else.
SW-User
@Starcrossed But surely at some level they know they are not deserving.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
It's all a matter of perspective, I suppose. I don't think a person willing to use deception toward their own ends is concerned about how well earned the win feels. I do agree that a deceptive win is a hollow one, however.
SW-User
@UndeadPrivateer Ah perhaps they never even realise why they are forever so ...in their negative state and never come out of it. But their subconscious perhaps does realise.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User Indeed. It takes a certain level of metacognition to recognize just how intensely deleterious being that kind of manipulator is. Not everyone has that.
SW-User
@UndeadPrivateer What a pity.
Elegy · 46-50
I am not a fan but that is not their perception and while we're bemoaning the fairness they have run of with the gigantic stuffed bunny. 😒
SW-User
@Elegy lol I don't know why that seems like a dig.
In any case my qn is from a different angle.
Elegy · 46-50
@SW-User well I threw myself in there too so... It wasn't a dig, I'm just pointing out reality of the situation. I'm not entirely sure your angle is so different. I believe you're saying it's low and makes it hollow. You're saying it's cheap, right?
SW-User
We're talking about honours here. Not any kind of rewards. Right?
SW-User
@SW-User yes. A false reward surely exposes itself over time. How can this be an achievement?
wackidywack · 26-30
It's not 😬
SW-User
@wackidywack Lol we had this talk once. And sure I can. I think you can too, you have that intelligence.
But I choose not to. :)
wackidywack · 26-30
@SW-User 🥴
SW-User
SW-User
Hey, I'm happy with a hollow win over a loss.
SW-User
@SW-User Good for you
SW-User
I don’t think they have that sort of emotional intelligence
SW-User
@SW-User You do make a fair point. Darn it!
I works for politicians
SW-User
@splishsplash That it does.
SW-User
Well, deception is standard practice in war.
SW-User
@SW-User And politics...but those are a whole different level of players.
if the princess don't get what the princess wants it turns into a monster innit lol true that
SW-User
@DxNxA You must be far more intelligent reading people than I am. 😐 Now how do I master this thing?
@SW-User @DxNxA what it is.. theses people think they are smart in a pool of vulnerable people cant u read that in here
SW-User
@DxNxA Oh yes, of course predators only prey among the vulnerable. But predators are not always noticeable. Not immediately. Anyway, not for me... though I am getting better at it.
It's a foolish win
SW-User
@Dewms Very much so. It is appalling how many people feel entitled to it.
Who cares. They’ll figure it out if they give any fuck at all. Some people don’t.
SW-User
You know who says the same thing? LOSERS.
SW-User
@BiasForAction I'm not a mind reader you know? I have no way of knowing you're joking, especially since I do not even know who you are.
that’s why I’m telling you.
SW-User
@BiasForAction Now I know. :)
