Strongly disagree. Affiliating with a party period is akin to religion. When you tie your identity to a political party you become blind to their failings and it is harder to process new information without bias.

I'm more inclined to vote for Democrats because I believe their policies are better than Republicans. But I am not a Democrat because I like critical and independent thinking.
