PLEAS READ

Was reading today and one paragraph that really stuck out to me is this;
“The thing is, the only real sign of life is growth. And growth requires pain. So to choose life is to accept pain. Some people go to such lengths to avoid pain that they give up on life. They bury their hearts, or they drug or drink themselves numb until they don’t feel anything anymore. The irony is, in the end their escape becomes more painful than what they’re avoiding.”

I have a similar criticism towards Buddhism. The core concept in Buddhism is that attachment leads to suffering so peace is found by avoiding attachment so that by avoiding attachment we avoid pain. I don't know why so much focus on avoiding suffering. the starting premise is true I just don't fully agree with what to do about it. I KNOW desire and attachment are going to lead to suffering because everything is impermanent but I ACCEPT IT, I live passionately and I am totally open to attachment because it make life worth while and I know and accept the cost is pain. When my dog was alive I was very aware that the more I loved her the more painful it would be when she died and I accepted that price, it seemed worth it to me so I loved her with all my heart. now she is gone, the pain will never go away and still, I would do it all over again, the cost of all the joy is all the pain and I still think its worth it.
