Thoughts on Roseanne being cancelled?

Probs misspelled her name. I don't really care. The show was garbage. She isn't even remotely funny and her IQ is double digit. However I strongly oppose any sort of censorship or prevention of free speech, regardless if it's hate speech, so I do not agree with the decision to cancel the show, as worthless as her career and show is. The fact that it's backlash for something I believe she has the right to say makes me disagree with the outcome.

Yet let me also say that I would be more inclined to defend her had she actually made a witty remark or made me laugh with her racist tweets. But the number one reason I dislike what she says is it wasn't clever or accurate. Jarrett doesn't look like a Planet of the Apes character at all. She isn't even dark sinned enough for that to be a good insult. I'm not that thin skinned. When someone wants to say something racist I don't care. I just laugh at them and their ignorance. But my god if she could at least make it funny. Maybe tho she wasn't joking. In which case then it's just another lesser human being operating from her primitive brain spewing the most outdated points of view around. And therefore should be treated with only a universal gesture of

And then forgotten about.

I actually loved the show and I'm very disappointed that it won't be back over something so stupid. I hate that celebs always have to go online and make stupid statements all the time like we really care what they think about the world. You're paid to entertain...so entertain me. I'll go elsewhere for politics, and I don't care about your views. Just be funny....and what she said wasn't funny....but I don't think they should cancel the show over it. It's not even punishing her as much as it's punishing everyone else who works on the show, like the crew and writers who aren't millionaires.

I watched like 5 min of that show one day and realized that this show was super fucking outdated....maybe in the 80s this would have been considered comedy, but I just felt like it was super dumb and corny with middle aged lowkey racial remarks being made. As far as censorship, although I agree with your opinion on free speech, at the end of the day, network tv are just corporate entities who’s ultimate goal is to make maximum profit., not be a phantom government with its own bill of rights

I'm similar, people should just be able to say what they want I'd like to think most people are adult enough to see comments for what they are and not give them more time and energy than necessary.

As for her show and it being cancelled...that's on her. She should know she's in the public eye and be careful with what she says, especially in this highly sensitive social climate. She dun goofed lol

I didn't even realize that Valerie Jarrett was African American.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@Fungirlmmm I never even heard of her.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
@MrBrownstone lol she was Former President Obama's advisor. I had never studied her personal life closely. She just looked like an older woman to me. I never really gave it much thought as to what her background was. A lot of folks I've seen say, who's that? So you are not alone.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
@MrBrownstone You know, it doesn't really hurt her that they cancelled the show. I read somewhere not long ago that she was worth over 80 million usd.
Assuming that people will read all of the above

So much for free speech.
TheJudgerNautSquared · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone It had nothing to do with free speech to be frankly honest. She had said some things that were distasteful and her employer didn't want to be associated with her message. This is how most jobs work.
@MrBrownstone

lol what do you think free speech means, dullard?

I haven't seen the show, but I saw this coming.
