Do you view feminism as a mean of superiority over men?

Probably not superior to men nor to any sexes but for ourselves as an equal to all human species..

I feel like modern day feminism is not what it was meant to be. Roll back to when feminism started, it really was going for equality. But these days, I think a lot of feminists are kind of just toxic
@ThatOneMan I couldn't agree with you more!!

@ThatOneMan Actually, I was quite young, but around when the modern movement started (ie, specifically referring to Germaine Greer et al time.) Nothing has changed. They were despised and mischaracterised as extremists then (even though only a small percentage of them were very extreme then) & they are despised and mischaracterised as extremists now.

The research shows most feminists are NOT extremists today (eg, https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/national/feminism-project/poll/)

If you think they are, then it shows the power of people like Rush Limbaugh (who created the term 'feminazi') and social media to stereotype a movement in order to dismiss it.
@Abstraction Even if a poll shows reasonability, the voices of leaders or ones picked up by the media can differ from that.

An interesting professor from Harvard (lesbian, btw; Camille Paglia, I think...?) pointed out 20 yrs ago that if feminism is about freeing women, it should affirm any choices which women make for themselves. She pointed out that women who chose to stay home as housewives raising children were being told that they were not real women/denying themselves the careers they should have/etc. by the then movement.

If that is the case, then I would say that the movement has gone beyond what it should be to castigating women who do not conform to a predetermined notion of what a woman must be.

Consider: If it is wrong for MEN to put women in a straightjacket limiting their choices...isn't it also true that it is wrong for WOMEN to place other women in such a straightjacket?

If feminism is about freeing women, why should women switch one form of bondage for another?

@ThatOneMan They are more man hatters now
@bhatjc I am not sure what millinery has to do with this...? 😉 [hatters v. haters lol]

ok...serious now...

I agree, but it seems that our ilk has done much to be hated, unfortunately. I was unaware HOW unaware I was of the incredible extent of the abuse of women. It is sad.

@SomeMichGuy lol. Man haters. In the old days it was getting better working conditions. Now it's just to many feminazi
ugh gotta draw the line at the Limbaughism feminazi...

It is just too ugly a term from a guy who only sells hate and anger and gets his facts so wrong bc it serves his purpose.
bhatjc · 46-50, M
@SomeMichGuy I understand that man. But some times you run into the ladies. That it doesn't matter if you are a nice guy or not. you are "still a man"
@bhatjc Ah...yes. I think some ppl help promote this.

I think there has been enough crap promulgated by men generally that it has helped give impetus and credence to the anti-male movement. 😣

@SomeMichGuy Yeah. I have meet some ladies on here. Doesn't mater if your nice to them. Your still a man. Some of it has been cause by other men. But still some man haters are still out there
@ThatOneMan i totally agree. 3rd wave in particular have totally lost the plot. Andrea Dworkin now looks like a moderate.
